Do it yourself, online, at your convenience
If you use BlueShore’s Online Banking, you can open a term deposit yourself, both non-registered and registered (RRSP and TFSA).
How to open a term deposit online
To open a term deposit online, first log in to Online Banking:
- On the Account Summary page, select Account Services from the left-hand menu, then click Open an Account.
- For non-registered term deposits (those not part of a registered plan such as RRSPs or TFSAs), select Term Deposit from the list.
- Click Open Account to the right of the term deposit you wish.
- Enter the details on the form: the deposit amount, length of the term, which account you wish to transfer the deposit from, which relationship from the drop-down menu, and intended use. (There is only one option for intended use: Investment Management, but this must be selected to continue.)
- Confirm when presented with the summary.
To open a term deposit that is part of an RRSP or TFSA
If you already have an RRSP or TFSA plan in place at BlueShore, you will see these two options on the list in Online Banking. If you do not have a registered plan, these options will not appear. Please visit your branch or contact us to set up either your RRSP or TFSA (or both!). We’d be happy to help.
To open an RRSP or TFSA term deposit after logging in to Online Banking:
- On the Account Summary page, select Account Services from the left-hand menu, then click Open an Account.
- Select either RRSP or TFSA from the list.
- Click Open Account to the right of the term deposit you wish.
- Select the contract for this account. (You may only have one.)
- Complete the form with the deposit amount, the term if applicable, and which account you wish to transfer the funds from.
- You will be shown the details of the term deposit. Review and click Confirm.
